What an awesome day!

It was international Secure your ID Day, and we spent the morning at Misty’s Better Business Bureau’s parking lot handing out goody bags and taking people’s personal documents to be shredded by a real pro who looked surprisingly like Meat Loaf. (The singer, not the food stuff.)

Speaking of surprising look-a-likes, the first guy who came for the shredding looked exactly like Donald Rumsfeld. I actually just checked his wikipedia entry to make sure he hadn’t retired to Evansville, Indiana. He got there about fifteen minutes before we started, wouldn’t let anyone near his documents, even to help him carry them, and wouldn’t leave until the pro practically signed an affidavit saying the stuff was compost. If he hadn’t been so kindly, I would have been certain it was Rummy ridding himself of incriminating documents.

We had a great day. Fifty-seven folks came through for shredding, spaced out over the morning, so there was a lot of just hanging out. Misty’s co-worker are a lot of fun. One of them has a little girl who turned two today, so we had a birthday party for her (complete with My Little Pony tea party set and faerie wings). I got my first great sunburn of the year out of the way early. And I didn’t even have to use my AK.
